description:
This study was designed to provide information on the impact of Interpersonal Activities (IPC) by trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) on infant feeding practices, and the use of food fortification products including micronutrient powders (MNP). This is also designed to examine: i)whether exposure to IPC communications leads to improved feeding practices and the use of MNPs; ii)whether exposure to IPC communications leads to the adoption of positive attitudes on breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices; and iii)the type of magnitude of CHW led IPC work that is helping to promote continued breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices more/most consistently. Twenty two (22) Fokontany in each district was selected using probability proportional to size. A total of 390 eligible caregivers were selected, of which 220 were exposed to CHW led IPC activities on nutrition and 170 were not. Analysis was done with SPSS. Analysis of variance was used to assess impact of exposure to PSI interventions on behaviors of interest. Following PSI global research practice, findings are presented in a standard table or dashboard. For all comparison analyses, findings are controlled for population characteristics and other communication channels (e.g: radio).
