description:
The agency conducted this survey to produce a data file that could be used to bridge between the "single" race distribution in the 1990 census and other household surveys and the "one or more races" distribution in Census 2000. This file contains response data from a nationally representative two-part sample survey of about 55,000 households. Data in the first part were for households who were asked to "mark one race" and during a telephone re-contact, they were asked to "select one or mo re races." The procedures were reversed for the second part of the survey. Records include a sample identification number, person number, sample weights, panel number, sample stratum, state codes, census division and region codes, data collection mode identifiers, Hispanic origin identifiers, sex, age, educational attainment, veteran's status, relationship to householder identifiers, household income, race identifiers for initial and follow-up contacts, and allocation flags. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC). See the ARC catalog entry for this series for more information on this data and how to order it.
