description:
The Kohn Reactivity Scale[1] instrument consists of 24 items that assess an individual’s level of reactivity or central nervous system arousability. Individuals respond to each item on a 5-category scale ranging from ‘‘disagree strongly’’ to ‘‘agree strongly.’’ The Kohn yields a single summary score created by summing all of the items, after reverse scoring half of the items. This measure has been reported to have adequate internal consistency, ranging from alpha of .73 to .83.[1 ] [1] Kohn PM: Sensation-seeking, augmenting-reducing, and strength of the nervous system, in Spence JT, Izard DE (eds): Motivation, Emotion, and Personality.
