description:
SSB has carried through a general Omnibus Survey four times each year since 1992. The survey maps out attitudes towards a wide variety of societal questions. Various research institutions and other public institutions have the opportunity to propose questions and buy a section of the survey/participate actively in designing the questionnaire. The aim is to develop an omnibus for the production of statistics and for usage in public services. The survey consists of a fixed set of background variables in addition to the questions that employers pay for. Some of these questions can almost be considered as permanent, since they are incorporated in each quarterly survey. These include the questions about smoking (on behalf of the Norwegian Directorate of Health) and travelling over the last three months (on behalf of the Section for Transport, Tourism and ICT at SSB). Themes and employers for t he Omnibus Survey, 3. quarter, 2001: - Household - Cohabitation/relatioship history - Smoking habits - Preferred political party, elections and politics - Organizational participation The Omnibus Survey, 3. quarter, 2001 was merged with the Level of Living 2001 - the cross-sectional survey.
