description: |
This project will characterize the genomic changes in over 20 tumor types using a well-characterized set of about 500 tumor samples for each tumor type. RNA and DNA from sets of tumor and matched normal samples will be analyzed for copy number variation, chromosomal segment aberrations, loss of heterozygosity, epigenetic alterations, gene and miRNA expression changes and mutation by large-scale sequencing and array technologies. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) is coordinated by individuals from both the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).
