description:
PSI/Zimbabwe is implementing a multi-year USAID and DFID funded HIV prevention program targeting sexually active Zimbabwean men and women ages 15-49 years. The program goal is to reduce HIV incidence and the impact of HIV and AIDS on Zimbabweans. Specific objectives of the pretest study were to examine audiences perceptions of the different executions, examine the appeal of the executions in terms of perceptions of quality, artwork, design, assess the comprehension and visibility of messages contained in executions, to evaluate the credibility, relevance, and appropriateness of executions content and messages to target audience, to determine if the executions will encourage the target audience to buy and use condoms. A total of 13 executions were pretested (8 p osters and 5 jingles) among 110 respondents aged between 18-49 years who volunteered to participate were interviewed in the study. Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires and Focus Group discussions accompanied by the executions. This method was chosen for its ease of use and the richness of data produced when executions accompany narratives. Variety of executions allowed study participants to choose their best execution and, as a result, produce data that is driven by what is important to members of the target audience for behavior change. This results can be used by researchers (and marketers) to make an emotional connection with the target audience.
