The aim of the survey was to describe changes in children's family models. This was especially important in light of increasing occurrences of relationships outside marriage, which is hard to grasp in public statistics. The survey maps out children's families at birth and throughout their upbringing. The material consists of parents' relationship history and information about siblings, grandparents and step-parents. The survey consists of a nation wide representative sample of children in the age 16, 10 and 4 years in 1988, all together 3066 persons.
