description:
"The 1970 survey continued collection of data (Growth of American Families, National Fertility Studies) on factors affecting various facets of fertility - reproductive intentions, contraceptive behavior, fecundability. Additional information on women's educational and work history, status, and roles were obtained. The emphasis involved expanding and refining measures of fertility intentions, pregnancy histories and contraceptive behavior. The emphasis in the 1975 survey was on causal analysis rather than on parameter estimations for the total population. This data set on the married women sample is a panel interviewed in 1970 and reinterviewed in 1975. It includes the full set of variables from both studies (2,064 total variables). The data enable an examination of changes in contraceptive efficacy, fecundability, work history, family planning intentions, sterilization, abortion; opinions on abortion, sex roles, population problems; attitudes on individual efficacy; and detailed background information on respondent and spouse (age, birth, family background, education, religion and religiosity, ethnicity, occupation and income)."
