Termitidicoccus mucosus is a symbiotic bacterium isolated from wood-feeding termite, Reticulitermes chinensis. This bacterium is in the phylum Verrucomicrobia. Previously, several other Verrucomicrobia have been isolated from wood-feeding termites. Primary studies showed that these bacterial symbionts may invole in cellulose degradation and nitrogen metabolism in termites. The purpose of this study is to investigate the symbiotic mechanisms between Termitidicoccus mucosus and Reticulitermes chinensis through the profound analysis of the whole genome sequences.
